Hockey Feminin (Atom to Junior)
Yes, girls do play hockey! Lakeshore Minor Hockey is proud to be one of the strongest supporters of the Hockey Feminin program in Lac St Louis and we offer several programs, depending on your interests. Lakeshores offers girls hockey at the AA level (in conjunction with our partners in Lac St Louis) as well as Single Letter programs for girls from Atom age, 9 years old through to Junior, 21 years old, of all calibre, beginners to the veteran
Our Hockey Feminin AA teams are formed in partnership with all the Lac St Louis zones. The are regional teams and are administered the Lac St Louis Office. The teams play against other regions of hockey Quebec.
For the SL program, teams are formed and classified in A or B depending mainly on the caliber of the players. COMMENCING IN 2013-2014, LAKESHORE MINOR HOCKEY AND HOCKEY WEST ISLAND WILL MERGE TO FORM WESTLAKE FOR HOCKEY FEMININ. Although it is a single letter program, the teams play in the regional league.
The Single letter teams are usually on the ice an average of 1-2 times per week. This could be on weekends or weeknights and varies week to week.
Each team will play 24 games as well as receive 2 practices per month from Lakeshore. In some cases depending on the coaching staff and parents, teams may purchase additional practice times as well as participate in tournaments which will increase the frequency of their weekly activities.
As hockey is a team sport please note that players are expected to be at both practices and games. An odd absence is acceptable providing that the coach is advised but the player is expected to attend all team sessions so as not to penalize the team.
